Etiquette For Waiters In Restaurants

By Adriana Noton

Perfectly good dining experiences at restaurants can be ruined by a few ill thought out actions by waiters. Some things should always be done by servers and some should never be done. To most diners, these things seem obvious. But to a lot of waiters they go by the wayside. Here are a few basics that every waiter should know.

To begin with, you should never bother the patrons by standing around their tables when they are trying to eat. After the food has been served, wait a few minutes and then go check to make sure everything is satisfactory. Then leave them alone to eat in peace. If they need you for anything, they will try to get your attention. So keep an eye on everyone in case somebody is trying to get your attention.

If patrons are having a tough time deciding what to order, don't hassle them or pressure them. Ask if they need some more time and then let them be. Wait a few minutes before coming back. Never sigh or act irritated if they don't order right away. A few extra minutes for them to select the right thing is not going to hurt anyone.

Should a restaurant customer happen to have a complaint, always apologize even if you didn't do anything. Do not make excuses or try to blame them. Say that you are sorry for the inconvenience and that you will fix the problem. If you are not able to solve the problem, get someone who can right away.

Another important topic concerning waiters is removing plates. It is downright shocking how many waiters magically appear the moment a patron's fork touches the last piece of food. Before they even have a chance to chew that final bite, the dishes are scooped up and whisked away. This can make the customer feel as though you have been counting down the seconds until they finished so that they can leave. Not good.

Another note about dishes is this: do not, I repeat, DO NOT remove one person's plates if another person is still eating. This is one of the most basic concepts and yet it is shocking how many waiters still do this. Removing one person's plate sends the message that it is time to finish eating. It makes the person who is still eating feel uncomfortable, especially if he or she is the only one.

There are other things that should be obvious, yet still we see in restaurants every day. Don't shout or point at a customer. Do not play with your hair, chew gum or argue with other staff where customers can hear you. Don't smoke cigarettes where they can see you. Never touch a patron or handle any of their personal property. And under no circumstances should you tell a customer that you cannot wait until it is time to go home. And for crying out loud, refrain from asking for tips or counting them in view of the guests.

As for the dos: do be well groomed at all times. Dress nicely and make sure your shirt is tucked in and tie is straight. Always be polite and give the guests a smile. Thank them for dining at your establishment and say it so that it seems like you mean it. Even if you don't. - 30817

Vancouver Auto Insurance Quotes

By Judith Lawrence

Car Insurance is one of the hardest consumer goods to purchase. The product is complicated, the costs are variable from insurer to insurer, and there are few resources available to help shoppers understand automobile insurance. Most customers do not trouble reading the terms in their insurance policy - they simply call around for lowest insurance quotes and purchase the lowest bid. In the long run, this is not necessarily the best way, and will not always save the most money.

Saving money on car insurance requires a mixture of techniques that improve your insurability, decrease the rate of insurance for your autos, and provide you with a unique advantage when it comes to buying car insurance. This guide will sketch out 7 methodologies which will make sure that you receive the lowest possible auto insurance rates. The rest of this guide will help you follow several methodologies that may cut back your automobile insurance costs regardless which insurance company you select. But the 1st and most critical step to saving money on vehicle insurance is initially choosing the best vehicle insurer.

Cost is actually one factor when considering car insurance, but your insurer selection should be weighted more heavily on reliability. You might easily call a number of insurance companies, ask for quotes, and simply decide on the lowest bidder. However , whether or not the lowest cost insurer saves you hundreds of greenbacks a year in premium payments, that savings does you no good if you end up in an accident, needing auto repairs or medical assistance, with an unreliable and unresponsive insurance firm.

The following guidelines will help you to find a list of the most reliable insurance corporations to begin with. Once you put together this list, you'll be ready to move on to these steps of this guide to save even more money on car insurance.

Every state has its own office of insurance. These firms serve as a watchdog for insurance corporations and most of them will provide stats on all of the major vehicle insurance providers such as rating and buyer complaint proportions. Some of these firms even provide rate comparison charts, which can save you the trouble of calling around to obtain price quotes. If your own state does not have info about an insurer that you're interested in, just check the insurance bureau site for a nearby state.

At this point, it's not important to select an insurer. The goal is just to put together a list of highly regarded and reliable insurance firms as a starting point. This will save an amazing amount of time when you call around and ask for quotes. Because you've performed this primary research, you can be assured that whichever insurer you select, you'll be treated well in the unlucky situation where you have a car accident. - 30817

By Stephen Daniels

Today's parents are busier than ever! Between work, children and taking care of the home, you may think that there is no time for extra activities. Doing activities together, as a group, is a great way to work in exercise, fresh air (if outdoors), and family fun time together.

There are so many great choices for family exercise programs that can get your family out of the house. Why not try taking advantage of the competitive nature of the majority of people? It's a good idea though, to ensure that the competition remains light and friendly. The idea is that recreation is a great time to get healthy, not create conflict. Of course, regardless of who plays better, everyone wins at the end of the day.

Many people who are taking charge of their physical condition are turning to personal trainers, and for good reason. A personal trainer is highly recommended for family exercise programs. You won't even need to see your trainer frequently in order to make a difference. Having a family session just once a week, or even once a month, can really help out. Your trainer will be able to create a curriculum for each member of your family. They also provide accountability. If you know that they will be checking up, you're more motivated to stay on target between visits.

There is a growing emphasis on spending more time together as a family. People are also more concerned about leading a healthy lifestyle. The good news is that these two goals can work well together. You can take family outings that promote a improved lifestyle. Some excellent examples include bike riding and hiking. Walking is also a great exercise that almost anyone can do.

All of these activities get you outside, interacting with the scenery, and also impart opportunities to get your family active. When taking a family bike ride, pick different routes and destinations to keep it interesting. Keep in mind the skill level of each participant in order to avoid a route that is too challenging for younger children. Provide plenty of water and bring a trailer or pack in case a little one wants a bit of a break. Not only will they get a break, but mom or dad will get a better workout as well. Whether you're hiking or biking, it can be a lot of fun to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the end of your trip. This gives kids a tangible goal to work toward and makes for a fun outing. - 30817
